| Coating a coffee table |

Hey there again, I am trying to put a nice finish on this old coffee table I got... guy at home depot told me instead of brushing on the stain and poly mix, I can simply pour it on and not worry about sanding, etc.. and it will have a glass like finish. Well I kinda have a problem. I think it kinda worked, but first, the can was not enough to cover the whole table, duh. Also, I wonder if the stain mixture will mess up this process. I am thinking I should just get more of that one I used and try to cover the rest up. Any suggestions? |
Clarification/Follow-up by curiousz on 09/14/03 12:26 am: Well I got another can and poured it over, and it actually did a decent job, but it seems I am STILL short because this coffee table is about 4.5' x 2.5' so it is pretty big, and most of the surface is covered, but the sides and the edges are inconsistently covered due to lack of material. I am not even sure it is worth it to buy a whole another can just to cover that up since I am no so concerned about perfecting this for the trouble it is causing.
The mix I am using is Polyshades Stain and Polyurethane in one mix. I made a mistake and should have gotten a plain poly or resin, beca all I really wanted was a nice shiny coat over the table, but I was lazy and did not look for it and home depot's employees were either busy or not very helpful at the time.
Anyways, we'll see what this looks like indoors in my living room. Thanks.
