I know the answer you gave last time was a good one but I'm still confused...
I'm sure I read somewhere that all the Chinese generals are also, at one and the same time, heads of the various huge state companies, particularly the utilities like the power company, the water company, etc. So what do they do - go to university, military college, become a general and then what - study as accountants or management consultants in the evening or something? Can you see what I'm getting at? And how would there be enough hours in the day to do both? |
Clarification/Follow-up by denberg on 11/01/03 12:08 am: So the generals, admirals etc, don't actually have any real training in the companies they are actually heading - is that a fair comment? Clarification/Follow-up by denberg on 11/01/03 1:34 am: Without getting into an argument about the pros and cons of communism vs capitalism, would you say that running things like this is more or less efficient financially than our western way? I would have thought less, but what do you think?
