Evolution and food question jpollardsmith 07/31/06
    Hello,

I live in Arizona and I have a question about our current American diet and how it fits in with evolution.

Probably the healthiest foods for man are rice, bread, fruits and vegetables. Although raw fruits are somewhat palatable, most people don't like the taste of plain rice, plain bread and raw vegetables.

In contrast, many people love fast food and it has many physically destructive ingredients like salt, sugar and fats.

I've always thought that evolution would give man a desire for food that would make him healthy and strong. It seems to me that evolution has given us the desire for food that makes us sick.

Would you know the reason for this contradiction?

    Thank you,

    John
