Penance excon 04/20/04
    Hello experts:

Is there a difference between being asked if you are a liar, or being asked whether you have ever lied? If you have ever lied, when does the period of penance end when one can honestly state that they are not a liar? Ever? Who decides?

I was a criminal. I’m not a criminal now. When did that change occur? Did it occur? Am I still a criminal? Will I be one forever?

      Clarification/Follow-up by bal317 on 04/21/04 5:09 pm:
Hello: If you done a crime and did not get caught, your still a criminal in the man made Laws eyes. Now, many of us have done things in our past that we did not get caught, it does not make us unaccountable for that crime, we broke the Law.
If you in this crime, injured or left someone in harms way in which they got hurt, I would think to free your guilt one would have to pay their price to Society to set your mind at ease.
So, many of us did "trick/treat" gags that could have landed us in jail.
We have all went against the speed limits.
We might have all stolen or mishandled money in which it benefited us, be it to pay into an account keeping something out of your own money, but you benefited from the deed.
Those things we got away with, we need to take it to Our Father, and ask for truthful forgiveness of our sins.
Then with all sincerity try not to repeat our offenses.
It's not for anyone else to judge you, but you have to do what is best for you and that can be for you taking it all to God.
I don't like it when someone has done a crime that has not injured someone and they get ridiculed for serving their time and trying to go on in life.
Now, and because I have to be faced with this pretty soon now, anyone that has caused great harm to another individual where their actions has left great mental or physical scares, I don't think I can be a very warm person around that kind of an individual.
God is the answer for all of us.
