John works in Harold's factory which manufactures contact lenses. He has developed a special and inexpensive method of making the lenses that has not yet been used by any other manufacturer. Raymond also has a business which manufactures lenses and has offered John employment at a better wage than Harold offers. Harold, on being informed by John that he intends to resign and because there is a clause in his contract of employment which states that he cannot work for anyone else in the manufacture of lenses for a period of 5 years after leaving Harold's business.
