I know someone who was ordered deported but his country would not accept his deportation because he lost his citizenship status after leaving his country 14 years ago. He now must report to INS every 90 days as a condition of his release from INS custody. (They could not hold him forever. He needs to apply for a waiver to obtain his permanent resident status to get a green card from the Board of Immigration Appeals in Washington DC. Now since the 9/11 attacks the INS has been in tight wraps and very conservative on issuing visas. it is very difficult now. DO you know what the status is on the BIA issuing waivers? I mean any new changes on issing Visas other than fingerprints being required? How will waivers be issued? What is the current halt status on visas? My friend's attorney tells him it is very difficult and impossible right now to appeal to the INS. I need to know what the BIA will do on issuing Waivers and people who want greencards? Whats the hold up and what's going on now? |
