HI expert! i was wondering if you could give me some ideas for the following question for a discussion? How should our society react to acts of euthanasia. Do you agree or disagree? Do you think it's unjust or just. For those who are sentenced due to acts of euthanasia. For example I Was reading the Robert Latimer Case. Do you think the sentence is too severe or too light. Can you give me some opinion and ideas about the issue on euthanasia? |
Clarification/Follow-up by tarot10 on 03/09/05 6:46 am: Laws are suppose to be to maintain law and order.
I am sure you have become aware of the many prisoners who have been set free because they were falsely accussed as evidence showed with the modern use of DNA These were people who were incarcurated based on their race and color of their skin. This is the reason many people are opposed to the death penalty again because it would primarily be applied to certain individuals.
When I was in grammar school, I had a teacher who did not like my race and she used to send the bunch of us in a group to be spanked by the principal. Only those of my race would get spanked but no one else and we had it worst if we spoke our native language.
If we start passing euthnasia laws, they will be used against only a certain kind of person. We run the risk of certain people getting singled out.
We can't have people going around killing who ever they feel like it.
In the past people who were born with disabilities were locked away and treated worst than wild animals until someone started sticking up for them and they started building schools for them and started treating them with dignity and respect.
If anyone has a child who he/she cannot or does not want to care for it, we have the option of turning that child over to the state. I understand the Kennedy's had such a child and that is what they did. They did not find it necessary to put it to kill.
I am certain that if such a law were passed many people would be euthanised primarily due to someone not wanting to be bothered with them.
That is already seen in the animal world. 2,000 dogs per minute are killed because they no longer match the furniture or because the owners no longer wants to be bothered with it. These are healthy dogs that someone simply just no longer wants to be bothered with.
These same attitude would be transferred over to humans. As it is in today's world most humans don't care about each other.
What do you think will happen if they start passing euthanasia laws?
But I suppose that if over population existed the government would very quickly pass this sort of law. Where we would even have the option of choosing when we wanted to be killed.
