Going Back to Work Anonymous 05/25/03
I am a paranoid schizophrenic receiving SSI and Medi-Cal. Two good friends of mine asked me if I want to start a business with them. I told them I am willing. We want to start an importing company. We will purchase products from manufacturing companies in bulk at wholesale prices and auction the products off on Ebay.

The reason I have not wanted to go back to work in the past is because I have frequent relapses of psychosis and when I am psychotic I am afraid of social situations and avoid contact with people.

I am willing to do this importing business because I can run it with little or no social interaction. I can place orders for products without meeting anyone in person, and auctioning products on Ebay I can do myself at home. My friends can bring the products to the post office or UPS to ship them out.

What I would like to know is if I do get started doing this business, and I tell the government agencies providing my with my disablilty aid that I am working, will they ask me if I have been able to work all along and have been collecting disability while not being disabled? Will I get in trouble with them? Thank you in advance for taking time to answer my question.
