Camera/camcorder question jpollardsmith 12/06/06
    Hello,

I live in Arizona and I do photography mostly for vacations and personal use.

Currently I am thinking of buying a first-time digital camera and a first-time camcorder. In my local stores the camera I'd like to buy is about $160 and camcorders are $300-900. Buying both would be a stretch for my income.

But I've read that newer camcorders have digital camera capabilities (i.e. able to take still photos) built into them. So I might be able to buy a combination camcorder/camera and save some money.

My only concern is that the camera part of the camcorder might not take high quality photos.

If you are knowledgeable about these camera/camcorders, could you tell me if the digital camera part of them is as high a quality as stand-alone digital cameras?

    Thank you,

    John
