Road Tires: Ease of Installation & Removal Ccl471 11/12/05
I once heard a fellow cyclist say that Continental tires(clinchers) are hard to mount and remove. And not long afterwards I did remove a Conti and found it more difficult to do than the tires I was more accustomed to. At that time I had used mostly Schwinn's, in 20c and 25c widths.

Well, now I am on a weight loss program to get myself back down to a light-enough body weight so that it will not be uncomfortable for me to ride a road bike. You see, I am very overweight.

I am 5 ft. 7, and once I get down to 185 lbs. I will start riding road bikes again. I do not plan on ever racing again, but I do want to maintain myself at a fitness level close to what it was during my racing days over a decade ago.

For fitness riding I think I can use 25c tires, because I don't have to be as picky about performance as I was in my racing days, and also I think wider tires should be easier to mount and remove.

Can you recommend me a brand of road clinchers that are not hard to install and remove? I won't want Performance brand unless you tell me they are as good quality as any of the major brands, and I don't like Vittoria because once I locked my rear wheel and the fairly new Vittoria I had on it wore down, during the skid, all the way until the inner tube was exposed.

    Many thanks,

    C.L.
