Sentencing Guidlines are Toast excon 08/28/04

    Hello Legal Beagles:

So, what is a judge to do? Is it anarchy, or are judges now left to judge?

U.S. District Judge Thomas Zilly remarked, after sentencing a guy to three months "the prison term could have been much higher, but recent debate over federals sentencing guidelines leads me to give the defendant the benefit of the doubt".

What's going to happen about all this?
