Making a TV stand curiousz 08/14/03
Hello, I need a TV stand but I dont want to spend the money to buy a good one, and there are certain things I need so...

    Here is what I want:

    Need a stand that
    - will support a 27" TV
    - has a shelf under TV for VCR/DVD/receiver/front speakers
    - turntable on top for TV
    - maybe wheels on bottom, or some smooth semi-spherical legs to make moving it on carpet easier

I need to know if I go to Home Depot (or anywhere u think is better)

    - what kind of wood is best?
    - just use plain wooden screws?
    - should i always pre-drill all the holes?
    - what is best way to make a turntable? (dont have to be perfect, just functional even with friction)
    - is the cost going to be significantly less from a comparable pre-built stand with turntable?

    Thank you.
