| Upgrading Receivers for HD Radio |

I understand that an upgrade is necessary to make today's stereo receivers capable of receiving HD radio signals.
So if I buy a receiver now, and buy whatever upgrade device is necessary, would that enable my receiver to play with hi-def quality sound? In other words, do today's receiver have the capability with the upgrade to play with sound of HD quality?
