Water coming into house msteinho 12/08/05
I live in Florida and, of course, it rains alot. I have a home which is about 2 years old and is concrete block with stucco. I noticed, everytime it rains hard, water comes in at the baseboard levels in both front and rear bedrooms. Enough to get the carpet wet and smell. There is no staining on the walls or ceiling. The roof and windows have been ruled out as the problem. The sprinkers were checked and there is no leakage underground.

Thank you for your quick response. The house has no gutters or rainspouts. Go figure...new house too worth half a mill, The property folks and landscaping folks in my development ruled out window leakage and grading. What about the stucco and concrete. Could water be penetrating? The stucco folks told me no, but I wonder.

Do you have much in the way of eaves? If the rain runs off the roof and away from the house, it shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps a hose. With somebody inside watching for water, start spraying it near the bottom of the wall. It may take a while, so work slowly. Maybe use a sprinkler and just keep moving it closer so it sprays higher. Once you find the lowest point water comes in, examine the area closely.
