What is the newest DVD technology?

      Clarification/Follow-up by pause on 03/30/06 9:41 am:
I would just add to that that blue ray technology is also on the market. Even if the technology has got some problem, such as the need for some of blue ray disk to have a cartridge, it may beat the hd dvd (which has a small red spot, not blue) because it will be used in the best game console: Play Station 3.
That means that sony won't give up on this technology :).
Moreover, new blue ray disks can store more data than hd dvd (as smaller spot size (blue smaller than red) permits smaller bits size on the disk, so hgher capacity. And blue ray has higher speed read/burn.
But nobody can tell as that may be more of a fight between two big companies more than a fight of interest of the users.
