They just didn't get it Boomer 09/09/03
    Today I went to the local hardware store for a router bit because I am making some trim for my dining room and somehow all my bits disappeared into that black hole that floats around my house.
    When I left my wife said "go to Lowe's because those people at Ace have no idea what they're doing." I think to my self "Lowes is across town and ace is 5 blocks.... How stupid can they be. I found out!

    I walk in and a girl about 12 (probably old enough to work but she looked 12) says, "Can I help you sir?" I knew right then that asking her for a rounding bit was useless so I said "where do you keep your bits?" and I meant in general.

    She cocked her head and said "Bits of what? Wood? They are called remnants sir."

    Quite sarcastically, I said "Thank you young lady, I don't know what I would do if helpful people like you didn't exist."

    She smiled at me like I was an old crazy fart and said "You are most welcome" and walked away.

    SHE DIDN'T GET IT, which ticked me off so I walked over to an older man standing there and told him about the conversation with the girl and you know what he said?
    "They ARE remnants!"

    I said "I know bits of wood are called remnants but I want a router bit."

    It was his turn to cock his head and say, "Well, why would you ask for remnants?"

    I found myself raising my voice although I didn't mean too. "I didn't want no freakin remnants, I wanted a router bit so I asked where the bits were!"

    "OH, I see" he said, and I actually thought he did until he said "You were looking for stuff to practice on."

    I said "Yeah, that's it. I need to practice. You got it. well, I gotta go find those remnants." and walked off shaking my head. Right out the front door I went and headed to Lowe's where I should have went in the first place!
