| How can I get training for these positions? |

There are 2 jobs at my post office up for bid - one for Complaints and Inquiry and the other for Claims and inquiry. Can you tell me the differences between the 2 jobs. Also another major question...
As a pre-requisite for the the first job it states that you must have knowledge of "mailing requirements and service standards" and for the other job it states that you must have knowledge of "postal regulations and services such as postage rates, mail classification, mailing permits and special postal services, indemnity claims, propoer preparation of letters and packages and admissibility of matter to the mails". I called the PEDC center (training center) at our post office and asked if they give any self-study courses for mailing requirements, etc. and they said "no". I then asked how do you get the training/experience if they don't offer you classes. They told me that this has always been a problem...and that it is a "catch 22".
Can you offer any solutions for this? Is it a matter of me requesting any and all brochures, etc. and then learning it on my own? If so, when and if I did this, when I fill out the KSA's, it would not really be any "formal training" (i.e. they would probably just have to take my word that I learned this on my own) and I'm not sure that this would carry much weight. |
