need advice with strategic career planning Nikitagold 04/09/04
I have been working for acme corporation (not real name) for 3 1/2 years as a help desk representative. The position is customer service and technically intensive. I have received many rewards, recognition and even a promotion.

However, my zeal for technical support and the IT industry has decreased and I have no desire to continue in this field. There are many real estate jobs I feel I would qualify for if I marketed my transferable skills, however I do not want to leave my company until I am fully vested in my pension (2 1/2 more years).

Furthermore, because my company is in the healthcare industry there are no positions available that I can transfer to for property management. But if I stay in this field I know I will quit.

Currently there are two positions available, accounts payable representative and applications analyst. The representative postion is in the Finance department and the second position is in my department (IT) under project management.

I am trying to decide which position will be best to transfer to, that will benefit me in my future goals and I need some advice.

FYI-I am currently in college and will receive my BA in technical management. The degree is only a business degree which uses my technical abilities and business knowledge to manage technical and non-technical people.

    Please help....
