how can I ask them to lay me off??? netto 01/28/04
I'm dying to get out of my company and move to another state. I've had a hard time finding work in the new locale because of the distance.

If I get laid off, with company standard separation, I'd get 6 months severance pay, and then can move and find work.

How can I (or can I?) go into my group's director and sort of ask to be laid off and severance?

I ask this now because my company typically does layoffs in March, and while I might be listed anyway, no rumors for our department.

How can I word it? How do I approach it without him taking it as a resignation and leaving me unemployed w/o severance!!!

    Thanks.
