Farthest galazy? HUH? DILLIGAS 03/01/04
OK, recently there have been many claims as to the oldest galaxy in the universe (Or observable universe).

I am confused. If it takes 13 billion years for the light to get here, what about the expansion of the universe, would that not skew the numbers? Or make it totally improbable that the astronomers are able to calculate the distance or age correctly? Since the expansion of the universe is an unknown, and we are still battling that the universe is one of the following, expanding, stable, contracting?

This is confusing, and I a readily admit that I sometimes cannot wrap my head around the concept.

If there are sites that can walk someone like me through the process of understanding, that would be great.

    Thanks,

    DILLIGAS
