Music composition question jpollardsmith 11/02/09
    Hello,

I live in Arizona and I am a filmmaking enthusiast. I often finish videos (5-20 minutes in length) on PowerDirector8 software and then I want to compose a soundtrack for them.

For music composition, I bought Sony Acid MusicStudio 7 and it includes about 3000 music clips, 5-20 seconds each. The clips are about evenly distributed between instruments, like piano, drums, guitar,..., and it seems music composition consists of choosing and arranging the clips on a timeline.

But that process is immensely complicated. I was wondering what sort of steps you would recommend for a beginner making a video soundtrack?

[My initial idea was fading in with some drums and bass music. Then adding various tunes from piano and guitar. Then create sort of a crescendo and a fade out.]

    Thank you,

    John
