Question Details Asked By Asked On
Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch curious98 04/26/07
For quite sometime I have been hammering on the head of some of our colleagues on these Q&A boards that Government Administrations all over feel no repulsion whatsoever about lying to us in the most deliberate and obnoxious way. I have read today this article which seems to show that I am not totally wrong:

    Quote:

The searing congressional testimonies from the family of Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch may sound the long overdue death knell for mainstream American public support for the Bush administration and its criminal war.

Tuesday, one unwilling and outraged war poster child and the agonized family members of the other stood before Congress, looked the Bush administration in the eye, and said, “Enough.”

Kevin Tillman, who served with his brother, accused the Bush administration of intentional deceit.
The accounts of the Tillmans, Lynch, and their fellow soldiers lay bare the fact that the Bush administration engaged in an elaborate and deliberate criminal cover-up of Tillman’s fratricide, as well as Lynch’s ordeal, to deceive the American people.

In what can only described as post-facto rape, the administration hijacked the images of Tillman and Lynch for war propaganda, fabricated elaborate pro-war fantasies around both, and then flooded the media with these pro-Bush, pro-war falsehoods.

The violation of Tillman will prove to be even more grotesque and appalling if investigations determine that Tillman’s disapproval of the war contributed in any way to his death.

An historic turning point has been reached. The American people who embraced the Pat Tillman/Jessica Lynch lie will “get” the Pat Tillman/Jessica Lynch truth, now that it has been honestly and heroically presented.

    Now the tidal wave begins.

Piece by piece, the Bush administration’s criminal construct is finally being undone. The Bush administration, and its “war on terrorism” (in its present incarnation), will not recover from this mortal blow.

    PS:
BTW. The above case is making a lot of noise in Europe and we are wondering what the Bush Administration is going to say in their defence.

Because you really think that the allied forces that are fighting in Iraq are keeping the terrorism at bay?

Because you really think the famous "War on Terror" is getting rid of terrorists?

The recent events in Argelia and Morocco, and the even more recent direct threats from AlQaeda members to Spain and France, do not seem to indicate so. Spanish and French authorities are scared to death a possible new terrorist attack and both military and police forces are practically on a 24 hours alert.

I do not know why you think you are keeping the terrorists at bay. As far as Europe is concerned we rather feel the other way round.

But other than that, if Bush really felt he was absolute right about His War on Terror why on earth did he feel he had to lie about something so dramatic as these two persons? As the President of the US all he had to do was just to say the truth, convinced that ALL AMERICAN PEOPLE are behind him... or are they not?

OK. I grant you this. And what about the other case?

which case ? I replied about both .

if Bush really felt he was absolute right about His War on Terror why on earth did he feel he had to lie about something so dramatic as these two persons

President Bush had nothing to do with either case . Do you think he micromanages down to field level ?

      Clarification/Follow-up by curious98 on 04/26/07 5:20 pm:
I think nobody is disputing the courage of these two soldiers.

And if the media is responsible for disseminating stories which the Government knew were not true, the least that can be said is that the Government took advantage of the media to keep the people believing something that WERE NOT THE ACTUAL FACTS AS THEY HAPPENED:

If I'm willing to admit that my Administration is constantly lying to me, as they do, why do you think it impossible that yours is acting quite often the same way?

Particularly, in the case of this unfortunate war, where so many lies have already been said...!

Right you are. Sorry I didn't read the first part of your answer.

And I agree with you 100%. But my point has nothing to do with the need for propaganda in any war...

If has to do, if you read my post again, with the fact that I have been quite often saying -once more now- that our Administrations are constantly lying to us -for a number of reasons- and when they do it, they do it for the same reason everybody lies. Either to justify something which they know it is difficult to justify or accept or to hide something which is convenient to them.

This is what I was driving at, and this is what i do not agree with.

Incidentally, we human beings, are so funny that we tend to punish our sons when the lie to us or to resent our wife or husband for the same reason, but we are willing to understand our maximum authorities when they lie to us, normally for more important reasons...

      >>Because you really think the famous "War on Terror" is getting rid of terrorists?<<

Yes, I do. Everytime one terrorist sets his foot on the "road to paradise," then there's one less murering butcher roaming the planet looking for an opportunity. Every single terrorist that dies literally means one less potential homicide bomber, subway bomber, plane hijacker, etc.

      >>As far as Europe is concerned we rather feel the other way round.<<

Could that be because Europe--with the barest of exceptions for the Brits--have either neglected to join or pulled out of the war on terror? I'm not speaking against individual citizens, but against national policies. To an ideologically-driven terrorist, such as the Muslim extremists, a failure to enter the fight is a HUGE sign of weakness. To enter the fight and then abandon it is--to them--barely short of conceding to their demands. They are just looking to seal the deal with their latest threats.

Contrast with the US. Though certain limp-wristed "leaders" (and I use that term loosely) are crying for pullout (if only their fathers had done the same), America by and large has a resolve of steel, and the terrorists know it.

At least that's the only reason I can see for no further attacks on US soil. The same cannot be said for other nations, which is tragic indeed.

I'll say it again: Evil must be hunted down and destroyed in its own den, or it WILL come out and come to OUR homes.
