Ellen Degenerate was a successful stand-up comedian. She had her own very successful sitcom. And she has a successful talk show. She has a list of accomplishments. She worked har and earned her celebrity status.

Britney Spears worked for Disney as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club, worked her tail off to get her musical career started and became a successful performer. She's sold millions of records. It wasn't until after all this happened that she started to implode. But she has a list of accomplishments to point to. She earned her celebrity status.

Paris Hilton was lucky enough to be born into money, but she gives a lot of charity, and she has had a successful reality TV show. So she earned at least SOME of her celebrity status. Ditto for her friend/enemy Nichole Richie.

But what had Anna Nichole Smith done to earn her notariety? Why is she famous?
