I know this has nothing to do with politics but congratulations to da Bears and the Colts on their Super Bowl berths. I had hoped New Orleans could pull it off - shame on Sean Payton for calling 3 pass plays in a row in the third quarter instead of slamming out a few yards to get their kicker a bit closer, and losing all the momentum they had just gained - but I digress. It was good to see the Colts get over the first hump. Congrats also to both coaches, although Dungy got the short shrift in my paper this morning with not one, but two articles heralding Lovie Smith's being the first black head coach to reach the big game - they'll play the game at the same time won't they? Also, if everyone wants us to get over racism (so maybe there is a bit of politics here), if it really isn't about "the color of a man's skin," why does everyone keep bringing it up? Lastly, as if anyone else here will care, Parcells called it quits. What wannabe or has been coach will Jerry get next? Could he possibly talk Cowher into coming to town? If the Steelers hire Tomlin could that send Russ Grimm to Dallas and give the 'Boys another legend from a rivalry of old? Will Peyton win the big one?
Clarification/Follow-up by tomder55 on 01/23/07 2:54 pm: both NY teams got semi-burned with Parcells (he had a good run while with the Giants ..he really screwed the Jets ) . People forget that he tried to bail out after the Giants 1986 SuperBowl win .He tried to go to Tampa Bay but the Giants blocked the move.That is the only reason he actually stayed beyond his 3-4 year plan. I figure he will retire for a year and pick another team to bring to the promised land (or just short of it ) .The team he goes to will wave Fort Knox in his face to lure him out of retirement Admit it ;he took a lousy Cowboys team and made them better .It's not his fault that Jones decided to bring "the player " into camp. If I had to manage an idiot like T.O. I would quit also Clarification/Follow-up by Itsdb on 01/23/07 4:05 pm: Yep, he did take a lousy Cowboys team and make them better, and I'm thankful for that. Now I'm hoping Jones will get "the guy" that can pull all that talent together and make a run. Kinda like the Giants, eh? Clarification/Follow-up by tomder55 on 01/24/07 10:51 am: now there's an improvement ... a coach who can bring his team to the Super Bowl and then lose. Why not ? He took over the Giants after Parcells bailed . Yeah; he's a QB guru.. when the QBs name is Elway.
