A name for the Mahdi Hatter ETWolverine 01/10/07
In the prior post, Tom mentioned:

We have to settle on a name for the Mahdi Hatter

I kind of like Ahm~a~mad~jihad .I have been spelling it that way for a couple of weeks and nobody has seemed to notice.

I figure it's a topic worthy of its own string.

I actually did notice that Tom had been spelling it that way, and I approve.

I've actually been using "Ahmad-genocide", but I think Tom's is pretty good too.

Anyone else have an opinion? (What, am I nuts? Of course you all have opinions...)

Oh come on Elliot, you gotta admit he does resemble a monkey. But, I accede to your wish to reserve that for Kofi.

Appearently it hasn't occured to you that Imamadjihad has certain targets and he isn't interested in anyone but those targets. They are the US, because of support for Israel and opposition on nuclear issues, as well as bad feeling left over for earlier skermishs, and Israel, because of the occupation of arab (islamic) lands or something like that. The whole thing is irrational, just more Islamic BS. Iran was a client state of the former USSR, so perhaps he is doing what Moscow cannot, antagonising the US. There may be some scores to settle with sunnies in Iraq too, but who knows?

He is just another Islamic meglomaniac, they breed them like flys.

We all have to realise that once a particular though process gets going nothing will stop it in that individual but death.

      Clete,

Do you really believe that Israel and the US are his only targets? That he intends to leave Iraq alone? That he doesn't have ambitions for control of the entire Middle East? He already has his hands in the pie in Syria and Lebanon, and he's the major force behind the insurgency in Iraq, and the main supporter of Hizbollah in Lebanon. Do you really believe that he'll limit nuclear attacks to the USA and Israel alone? He has WORLD AMBITIONS.

Moreover, even if Israel and the USA are his only targets, should we allow him to take shots at those targets? What would the effect of a nuclear strike against Israel or the US be to the world? Does a nuclear retaliation from the USA or Israel against Iran sound like a good idea to you? Because that is what you are courting when you allow Iran to become nuclear. In order to prevent a nuclear war, it will (not may, WILL) become necessary to wage a conventional war against Iran.

I try not to get too deep into the detail in every answer, I think megliomaniac sums it up, and I have already said that. The US is in Iraq so obviously he is making trouble there and there are old scores to settle with the sunnies, I have already said that. Take the time to read what I say, please. Yes, I suspect Iran seeks to establish a shiite state in Iraq.

Imamadjihad has aspirations and undoubtedly dillusions, old persian empire, peacock thone and all that, caliphate and all that, he probally sees himself as the 12th Imam.

But realistically Bush fits the megliomaniac tag too and with US forces in close proximity to Iran, we can see why Imamadjihad might be acting up more than usual. A shooting war in the middle east suits noone's objectives, so I expect the war of words will continue until Bush leaves office. Beyond that who can know.
