Sen Joe Biden's Plan Choux... 11/03/06
Labperson said that the Democrats have no plan to end the war in Iraq. What follows is Senator Joe Biden's Five Point Plan. (In addition, Senator Murtha has a plan).

    • Establish three regions in Iraq -- one each for Shiite Muslims, Sunni Muslims and Kurds -- all governed by a central Baghdad-based government.

    • Provide the Sunni region with a 20 percent share of oil revenues, giving the Sunnis more resources than they would otherwise have and strengthening their interest in a stable Iraq. Increased stability, in turn, would attract more foreign investment, he said, which also would benefit Shiites and Kurds.

    • Tie increased U.S. reconstruction assistance to the protection of rights for minorities and women.

    • Propose a regional security conference, convened by the United Nations, that would draw a pledge from Iraq's neighbors to respect its boundaries and work cooperatively.

    • Withdraw most U.S. troops by 2008, leaving a force of about 20,000 to help maintain security.

    I don't necessarily support Biden's plan.

    Have a lovely evening, Choux

Sorry, that should be Rep. Murtha.

Here's MY five-point plan for Bush to succeed in Iraq:

      - Clamp down on the media. If you want to print information about the war, you get your information from the government. The idea that it is the press' job to be the conscience of the government during a time of war is rediculous.

      - Ignore Congress, the UN, the EU and the rest of world opinion. The rest of the world does not have the USA's best interests in mind, and the Congress (both parties in both Houses) is more concderned with elections than with winning wars. Fighting wars is the job of the President for a reason. One man with one plan needs to be giving the orders. Wars are not won by popular opinion. They are won by being tougher, nastier and more deadly than the enemy. Congress, being a political debating body that thrives on both conflict and compromise, is incapable of being that tough, nasty and deadly, and certainly it is not capable of being that decisive. That is why the power over the military lies with the President and not with Congress. So the President needs to forget about what others are saying and just make the decisions that are needed to win.

      - Kill the enemy. Don't piss on them, don't coddle them, and don't give them rights. Kill them. If they have information you need, squeeze the information out of them by whatever means necessary, and then kill them. Those should be the orders by which our military operates.

      - There is no such thing as collateral damage. Sh*t happens in war, and civillians die. As long as the civilians are not the deliberate targets of our military, anything goes. Stop counting bodies or worrying about casualty figures. Just fight to win as quickly as possible and the casualty figures will surely be lower than if the war drags on for decades without resolution.

      - When the enemy is dead and rotting, when Iraq is secure and when the Iraqi government is able to handle their own problems by themselves, we can withdraw 100% of our troops strength in Iraq. Not one minute sooner and not one minute later.

      Hello El:

      >>>Clamp down on the media. If you want to print information about the war, you get your information from the government. The idea that it is the press' job to be the conscience of the government during a time of war is rediculous.<<<

It's not surprising that you call the parts of the Constitution that don't fit your agenda "ridiculous".

Your answer reeks of fascism. It's true, if we were run by a dictator, we woulda kicked ass. Bush had his dictatorial shot. He blew it. THIS Democracy isn't going to give him another one.

So, the above is your plan IN YOUR DREAMS - and evidently Bush's too. But in the REAL world, what would you do?

I don't think you actually have an answer. So, it's not surprising you look to the left for the solution.
