A COUPLE OF FOLY'S E-MAILS MarySusan 10/02/06
"In addition to explicit sexual language, former Congressman Mark Foley's Internet messages also include repeated efforts to get the underage recipient to rendezvous with him at night.

"I would drive a few miles for a hot stud like you," Foley said in one message obtained by ABC News.

The FBI says it has opened a "preliminary investigation" of Foley's e-mails. Federal law enforcement officials say attempts by Foley to meet in person could constitute the necessary evidence for a federal charge of "soliciting for sex" with a minor on the Internet.

In another message, Foley, using the screen name Maf54, appears to describe having been together with the teen in San Diego.

Maf54: I miss you lots since san diego.
Teen: ya I cant wait til dc
    Maf54: :)
Teen: did you pick a night for dinner
    Maf54: not yet…but likely Friday
Teen: ok…ill plan for Friday then
    Maf54: that will be fun

The messages also show the teen is, at times, uncomfortable with Foley's aggressive approach.

Maf54: I want to see you
Teen: Like I said not til feb…then we will go to dinner
    Maf54: and then what happens
    Teen: we eat…we drink…who knows…hang out…late into the night
    Maf54: and
    Teen: I dunno
    Maf54: dunno what
Teen: hmmm I have the feeling that you are fishing here…im not sure what I would be comfortable with…well see

Foley resigned Friday after ABC News questioned him about the Internet messages.

He says he has checked into a rehabilitation facility to deal with alcohol and behavioral issues."

So, "The Family Values Party" covers up this vile Foley's advances to young men, this pedophile freak was on a committee to protect missing and abused children.

    The whole country is watching.

      btw.
Conservative ['Family values' if you will] Republicans have come out strongly against Foley and the Republican leadership .
The Washington Times for instance has called for Hastert's resignation .

Other noted Conservatives have also spoken :

"Speaker Hastert had knowledge of Congressman Foley's inappropriate behavior and chose to protect a potential pedophile and powerful colleague over a congressional page," ...."This inaction demonstrates a lack of leadership on Speaker Hastert's part and calls into question both his judgment and character," ..... "If Speaker Hastert was willing to sacrifice a child to protect Representative Foley's seat and his own leadership position, then he surely does not share our American and conservative values."
David Bossie, president of the conservative group Citizens United .

Richard A. Viguerie, a founder of the conservative movement, called for the "immediate resignation of any House GOP leaders who had knowledge of former Congressman Mark Foley's improper contact with underage pages -- but who took no action." He said "It is only the most recent example of Republican House leaders doing whatever it takes to hold on to power. If it means spending billions of taxpayers' dollars on questionable projects, they'll do it. If it means covering up the most despicable actions of a colleague, they'll do it."

      Ceebee

Someone needs to be a better counsel to those pages and to better supervise them - protect them from Congressmen

Sad but true . My only addendum to that is just putting on the table that the youth of America are not as innocent as we portray them sometimes. Congressmen and Teachers have to be very careful lest a lifetime of good work gets wasted due to succmbing to temptation and indiscretion . I replied on the other posting on this subject that the age of consent in D.C. is 16 and from a legal standpoint Foley's only guilt may be in the use of the net. From an ethical view he should've been drummed out but this cannot be classified as your typical peodiphilia .

Wondering why the media showed no concern for the kid is spin? I've seen pathetic, but that's beyond pathetic.
