Combating Racism jackreade 06/06/06
Some real ugly stuff is going on here, so I have to speak up.

I have known many fine middle class black people, professionals and CHRISTIANS.....many black working class people, CHRISTIANS, all kinds of African Americans.

I have known poor black people and poor white people....it's about surviving for poor people no matter what color.....

Prove it. Show me ONE STATEMENT that I've made that earns me the label "hater" (which if "hater" equals "truth teller," as it does to liberals, then it's a label I covet.)

What is the real injustice? To call things as they are or to call them the way we'd LIKE them to be, and say it's the truth?

You've spewed far more hatred toward conservatives and enthusiastic followers of God than anyone else here has demonstrated for anything.

Back up your words, or keep them to yourself.

Keep your racism off the public Board.
      It is very offensive.

Prove beyond a doubt that I've said something racist and I will keep future similar comments off.

State your case, prove your authority, or order me nothing.

Keep your racism and poorly disguised hate off the public board.

      Hate speach is never acceptable

I think spreading lies and slander about Condi Rice is both racist and hate speech

jack, I see, it's 'Ugly hate speech' to define a real impediment to race relations. It must be 'noble' to call people racists that aren't in your world. I want no part of that world. Instead, I'll just go home where I am a WHITE MINORITY and have been for most of my life. Maybe my neighbor has made up some nice salsa to share with me, or I can go to my best childhood friend's mother's house for some real Mexican food and enjoy the company of some friends of modest means that aren't my color.

I would agree with you, but I don't see any poor white people wearing t-shirts that say "If you see a cop, warn a brother". That T-shirt was racist, and is part of the reason that racism exists, and part of the reason that blacks can't get ahead in this country. Pointing that fact out isn't racism, it's a discussion of problems and possibly solutions.

Your solution would seem to be to ignore the problem and perpetuate it through the act of calling anyone who points out the problem a racist.

Is Bill Cosby a racist too? He's pointing out the exact same cultural phenomenon that Dennis discussed. Is Bill Cosby a racist for wanting to change black America's thinking to one that promotes advancement and progress instead of holding them back?

C'mon, Jack. This is beneath you.

      Jack

Gettin' richer and richer, the police took my picture
But I still supplied, some people I knew died
Murders and homicides for bottles of suicide
Money, jewelry, livin' like a star
And I wasn't too far from a Jaguar car
In a small-time casino, the town's Al Pacino
For all of the girls, the pretty boy Valentino
I shot up stores and I kicked down doors
Collecting scars from little neighborhood wars
Many legs I broke, many necks I choked
And if provoked I let the pistol smoke

---Road to the Riches (1989), Kool G Rap

Is it racism to point out that lyrics like these are bad for black youth? Is it racism to point out that black youth are causing most of their own problems by perpetuating these violent images within their own community? Is it racism to point out that music that talks about killing cops and dealing drugs and murdering people is bad for black culture? Or that t-shirts that perpetuate the same thing are also bad for black culture? Or are we to simply leave the issue alone, never point out wht can be done better, and leave blacks to suffer from their own mistakes when they have other choices?

      >>Two racist Christian right wing ministers....what a sad day for America.<<

That would be a true statement, if it wasn't an outright lie.

What's TRULY sad is people like you who REFUSE to hold people accountable for their actions (or inactions), and effectively CONDONE the refusal of a group, ANY group, to realize that all is not perfect, and that it is often no one's fault but their own.

It is TRULY sad that people like Jackson, Sharpton, and Farrakhan operate--with YOUR blessing--in such a manner as to keep the group they purport to represent in a constant state of agitation and discontent, because enough is never enough, not until some wild-a$$ fantasy state of "retribution" has been created.

People siezing isolated incidents and writings, taking them out of context, and milking them for all they're worth. Isn't that what you despise so much about your so-called "fundamentalist" Christians and conservatives?

That's exactly what you're doing with what people write here.

Again, by your OWN ADMISSION, you don't read fully the posts that are written here. You read a sentence or two, and then rush to pass judgment without even considering the merit of the person's position.

      Hypocrisy, thy name is jackreade/Choux.

jack, if you want to learn about racism, hate speech, intolerance, etc., I'd suggest Mike S. Adams. A couple of my favorites here and here. :)
