    Hello rightdingers (I mean rightWingers):

You guy’s have a problem with distinguishing the message from the messenger. As a matter of fact, you have a BIG problem with messages, in and of themselves. You guy’s love to say “what message does this send?” I guess you think people are real malleable. Maybe some are.

I love my country. I love it because its worthy of my love - not because someone told me to. Do you love it here because you just read a clever bumper sticker? Maybe some of you do.

I’m a good person because that’s the way I choose to live my life - not because someone told me to. Are you a good person because someone told you to be? Maybe some of you are.

Do you think our society changes depending on the current message? Or perhaps the LOUDER message (and I’m not talking about fads)? I don’t! I know some of you do.

If my government behaved, it wouldn’t matter much what the messengers say, because the truth speaks for itself. However, if it doesn’t behave, I want to know about it. That’s the press’s job. That is their ONLY job. That’s why they get special dispensation in the form of the First Amendment.

Now, you and I can argue about whether we should render prisoners to foreign countries for questioning. But there should be no argument about the press telling us about it. I know, some of you think they should only report “good” news.

      Ex,

Concerning the killing of Jews by the German government:

Based on accounts that I've read (which could always be wrong), the German government didn't really try to cover up or advertise the death camps. They just ran them, and as it turns out, no one said squat about them.

The impression I got was that the gov't had all the civilians (and military, and gov't employees, etc.) in a state of fear, that no one would speak up anyway. So if that's keeping it a secret, then I guess it was.

Not to mention that in the forties, ol' farmer Fritz couldn't just hop on his Dell and email Amnesty International.

Judas Priest ;or whatever her name is at the Washinton Compost got a Pulitzer by obtaining leaked information from a significant senior CIA officer. Mary McCarthy has denied that she is the leaker . Thus there is confusion that the C~Post could easily clear up by releasing the name of the source. Is it not their obligation to do so ? If McCarthy is not the source then why should she be subject to criminal prosecution so that they can continue the charade of using 'unidentified sources' ? Should she go to jail so they can protect their assumed First Amendment rights ?

      ex,

None of the "dyed in the wool church going conservatives" I know - and that's a lot - have seen "what a bumbling idiot he is and have changed their minds" that I'm aware of. If anything it is this base that's remained solidly in support of the president even if they haven't always been thrilled with him.

Judge Crier ... honestly I think she goes over the top in her rants against the 'religious right'. A fair minded person would not say that they are a threat comparable to the 'Taliban' like she has said. Most of them ,the worse you could say is that they are blow hards.

Her conspiratorial tone comes close to meriting a tin foil hat. But I can understand why she reacts as she does . The 'relgious right' is not shy in speaking some pretty inflamatory rhetoric about the judiciary either .
