But not knowing does not give licence to invent facts. Not knowing should provide impetus to find out.

American fascination with their own navels blinds many of them to the realities of the world outside their own borders, and that lends credence to the view that the US educational system is failing its students.

It is become a commonplace for Americans who are ignorant of the wider world to cast themselves and their country as the Great Victim and to consider America to be the Only Great and Generous Nation in the World.

That self-assumed role is cogently rebutted by facts. America does not stand alone, is not hated alone, is not the sole migrant magnet, is not the only nation fighting terrorism, and is not a special case and all other nations' cases of a lower order, significance, or priority.

When the American-in-the-street can stand up and see his and his coubntry's place AMONG nations, not OVER nations, then the educational process will eb working, and American swill not only no longer consider themselves as Victims of their own generosity, but will then receive the Respect they so pitifully crave from the international community.

An American life is of no greater value than that of an Arab, or a Mongolian, or a Peruvian, or a French, Swiss, Belgian, Welsh, Italian, Turk, Indian, Chionese, Japanese, N or S Korean, Cypriot, Egyptian, Iraqi, Irania, Azerbaijani, Canadian, Tierra del Fuegan, Esquimaux, Lapplander, Icelander, Swede, Kalahari Bushman, or Antipodean, and coming to realise that, accept it, and act on it is one of the final way markers for advancement into mature civilised human beings.

The "Poos Little Us" syndrom is not only falsely diagnosed, but it is mawkish nonsense.

I give you the question, "Lord, Who is my Neighbour?" and suggest you find the answer in the tale of the "Good Samaritan."

If any is foolish enough to suggest that I hate America, please don't waste your breath. I do not hate America or Americans, but I cannot accept, condone, remain silent about, or applaud acts and attuitudes that demean a great country that was founded on noble aspirations and high ideals while such pettiness and mean-spiritedness is rife in the mainstream of American ploitical life to the point where it has infused its evil tentacles, its toxins, and its deadly viruses into American religious life.

America deserves better than it is getting!

Americans must remove the political, cultural, historical, and religious blinkers that prevent many from seeing the world as it really is, and not just an image iof it as they are AFRAID it is.

America and Americans deserve better.
