CIA Leak investigation? Itsdb 12/07/05
    With all the brouhaha over Plamegate, you know 'leaking' the name of a non-covert agent that apparently everyone in the media knew about, why are there no investigations over potentially devastating leaks from CIA insiders?

    "ABC News reported Monday night that two secret CIA prisons in eastern Europe were closed last month and 11 al-Qaida suspects were transferred to a facility in North Africa. The report, which ABC attributed to current and former CIA officers who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the prisons were shut down after Human Rights Watch said it had evidence suggesting such facilities existed in Romania and Poland."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Personally, it doesn't really concern me if the CIA has "black site" prisons, I'm sick of the left's insistence we play footsie with terrorists instead of dealing with them like the scum they are. I am concerned that we're spending so much time and effort trying to nail Libbey and Rove when the CIA can't keep its own mouth shut. Just Google CIA OFFICER CONDITION OF ANONYMITY and see how many hits are returned.
    More and more I am of the belief there really is a CIA war against the White House as tom has previously discussed.
    What should be done? Should we praise these CIA insiders for exposing the horrors of the Bush administration? Should we investigate and prosecute the leakers for breaches of national security? Is the CIA a rogue agency or are there too many rogue CIA officials that don't give a hoot about national security? What?
      Choux,
      Do what I suggested and Google CIA OFFICER CONDITION OF ANONYMITY and see how many hits are returned.
      Hello again, Steve:
      Couple things:
      >>>Should we praise these CIA insiders for exposing the horrors of the Bush administration?<<<
      You said there were horrors. I just agreed with you.
      >>>how on earth can we deal with terrorists if we coddle them over here? <<<
      Is your assumption that anything less than torture is coddling? There is a lot of distance between torturing a prisoner and coddling him. I mean there is a lot of space. That’s where we should keep them. And, that’s where we should keep our own domestic prisoners. It’s a huge space, too, Its. It isn’t hard at all to distinguish what treatment fits into that space and what does not.
      Plus, my own bias (which happens to be a very American bias) dictates that the prisoners we hold should be afforded basic humane treatment. I get, from your previous questions and answers, that you don’t know what that treatment is. That you think feeding a prisoner three meals a day is coddling. That if the temperature is a constant 69, you think it’s coddling.
      I don’t have any trouble making those distinctions. I don’t believe you do either.
      I just gave 2 in my response . I also posted during the election and before the Plame story got hot that the CIA was leaking docs to the press and the Kerry campaign.
      I need to correct my response . Evidently the CIA did refer the matter in November .
      ex,
      "Should we praise these CIA insiders for exposing the horrors of the Bush administration?"
      I was being sarcastic.
      >>Is your assumption that anything less than torture is coddling?<<
      Nope. But the thing is ex, to the critics I'm referring to, those whose driving force is NOT concern for human rights but pure hatred for our president, anything less than coddling is torture.
      See, I refuse to sit back and say or do nothing while these people do all they possibly can to undermine the administration, the war and our peace and security over their intolerant political agenda. That is where the battle line is now drawn ex. Not in Iraq, not in Afghanistan, not in Iran, North Korea or Syria - but amongst ourselves. Those who couldn't give a damn about this country, your safety or mine, about how many American or coalition troops lose their lives or anything else beyond gaining power and getting their way.
      And IF you've read my previous and many comments on how these detainees should be treated you'd know I am also for basic humane treatment. The question then becomes what defines torture, and what interrogation techniques are acceptable? I would go farther than the left would, and I think you would, too - especially when it comes to protecting your family. Somehow I think these CIA leakers would as well.
