Iraq - Quagmire excon 08/11/05

    Hello experts:

Do you know what our plan is to win the war? I don't either. "Staying the course" when the course isn't working, is not a plan.

Here's what John McCain said about Vietnam: "It was a shameful thing to ask men to suffer and die, to persevere through god-awful afflictions and heartache, to endure the dehumanizing experiences that are unavoidable in combat, for a cause that the country wouldn't support over time and that our leaders so wrongly believed could be achieved at a smaller cost than our enemy was prepared to make us pay."

Kinda sounds like this war, doesn't it?

Ex, it's not "blaming the messenger" if it's true. When is the last time the left, including the MSM supported the cause? Who's voice is the loudest? Not to mention I would think that part of the plan is not revealing our hand to the enemy.

you did ask about the war and how to end it . I can go back and rehash all the reasons that we got into the war if you like . My opinion of the justification has not changed . Yes the insurgency was a suprise that possibly should've been anticipated ;But wars rarely end or are executed they way they are blue printed .

      Clarification/Follow-up by LTgolf on 08/13/05 7:23 pm:

There are similarities in this war since our enemies have learned from the past. They have learned to use our own people against our government to advance their cause.

And they have learned that we are weak and impatient and they have nothing better to do with their lives then fight.

We have no doubt the strongest military in the world but we are inflicted with the weakest people. The insurgents know this and simply bide their time with the knowledge that we grow impatient and will eventually pull out. This will give them the signal to come here once again and enact their dastardly deeds just as they did in New York.

If we do not beat them where they live , we will eventually have to deal with them where we live, and if we do not regain the attitude that we had after 9/11 these things will come to pass.

      Hi LT.

I have to tell you that I resent your suggestion that my beliefs regarding the war are inspired and directed by our enemy. Typical crap from the right - don't listen to the message - just destroy the messenger. Actually, the opposite of what you say is much closer to the truth.

The fact of the matter is, our enemy wants to destroy freedom here in this country, and George Bush, with his Fascist Patriot Act, does more to make the enemy happy than anything I could say.

The war in Iraq is based upon wrong information, and a lost cause. The enemy doesn't make me feel that way. The facts on the ground do.
