A title for my question excon 07/12/05

    Hello politicos:

"I did not have sex with that woman" - "I did not leak her name".

Same thing - or are you going to dither?

especially when the lies are Joe Wilson's .

Rove wasn't "outing Plame .She was NOT a 'secret agent' she was a mid level pencil pushing analyst who drove her BMW to work at CIA HQ in Langley every day .She hung out in the beltway with the in crowd .

Rove was suggesting to Cooper that that folks lower down in the CIA than CIA director Tenet commandeered the process so that the husband of one of their own could get the gig and gin the results . Wilson went and lied about his findings to various journalists (The Washington Post's Walter Pincus and The New York Times's Nicholas Kristof) ;in his own Slimes op-ed ;and in his book.

I do not know who Judith Miller is protecting . It doesn't make sense that it is Rove. Rove already gave permission to Cooper to reveal their email exchange . Why wouldn't he do the same for Miller. As I speculated yesterday ;I think she is protecting someone like Andrea Mitchell .

      ex,

Please don't. I don't excuse one lie on the basis of another. I'm still waiting to see if Rove lied - that has not been proven yet has it? Wilson obviously lied. And of course, as I pointed out yesterday, "Rove, like other White House officials, had signed a document provided by Mr. Fitzgerald in December 2003, allowing reporters to testify about conversations with him."

      Clarification/Follow-up by excon on 07/12/05 11:57 am:

      Hello again, Its:

White House Press briefing, Sept. 29, 03:

Q: You said this morning, quote, "the president knows that Karl Rove wasn't involved." How does he know that?

A: Well, I've made if very clear that it was a ridiculous suggestion in the first place.... I've said that it's not true.... And, I have spoken with Karl Rove.

Q: When you talked to Mr. Rove, did you discuss, "Did you ever have this information?"

A: I've made it very clear, he was not involved, that there's no truth to the suggestion that he was.

      Oct. 10, 03, Press briefing:

Q: .... I wondered if you could tell us more s specifically whether any of them told any reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA.

A: I spoke with those individuals, and as I pointed out, and those individuals assured me they were not involved in this.

There's more - much more. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a duck - even if it’s a Republican.

      ex,

There is much more, and I'm waiting to see what that might be - such as who it is exactly that allegedly "outed" Plame as an undercover agent - if she was a covert operative at all.

Isikoff's Newsweek article stated "Nothing in the Cooper e-mail suggests that Rove used Plame's name or knew she was a covert operative.

A source close to Rove, who declined to be identified because he did not wish to run afoul of the prosecutor or government investigators, added that there was "absolutely no inconsistency" between Cooper's e-mail and what Rove has testified to during his three grand-jury appearances in the case. "A fair reading of the e-mail makes clear that the information conveyed was not part of an organized effort to disclose Plame's identity, but was an effort to discourage Time from publishing things that turned out to be false," the source said, referring to claims in circulation at the time that Cheney and high-level CIA officials arranged for Wilson's trip to Africa.
      "

Rove has already testified, there appears to be no inconsistencies, he wasn't trying to "out" Plame but warn someone not to publish false information, and "On April 7, 2005 the Washington Post reported [4] that unnamed sources indicated Fitzgerald was not likely to seek an indictment for the alleged crime of knowingly exposing a covert officer."

So then what is all the fuss over Rove? Exactly what I said, it's a witch hunt, nothing more. Since the 2000 election the left has wanted Bush's head on a platter. If they get Rove they'll feel like they've neutered Bush.

Last night I watched the "profile" of Rove called Bush's Brain - they've been after him for years. In it, Wilson boasted of how much of an impact his Times article had - which we now know he lied about.

This morning, the AP article I read mentioned NOTHING of Rove having cooperated with the investigation, that he's testified, and that he signed papers releasing the reporters from the confidentiality pledge. I watched Harry Reid, the guy that called Bush a "loser" in front of students, arrogantly proclaim the Rove ordeal rises above politics, it's a matter of national security. John Kerry's demanding he be fired - again - and asking folks to sign his petition.

These people don't care, the facts won't matter, there's no need to complete the investigation, no need for criminal charges, no need to know any other details about the Plame affair - Rove's been tried and convicted already. And you've done the same ex, and I thought you would know better than that.

      Hello Its:

      >>>He wasn't trying to out Plame, but warn someone not to publish false information.<<<

Boy, you should go to work for them as a spin doctor. And, again, you blame everybody else, just like you did a minute ago.

The problem is with Rove. He's a liar. I don't care that Wislon lied. I don't care that the Dems are after him. All of that stuff is an effort to deflect the truth.

The truth is, he was trying to warn anybody that if you go against this administration, you are going to get fu**ed. That is an egregious breach of power. I don't care how you spin it - that's what happened.

And, now Bush doesn’t want to talk about it. Um, um, um.

      Hello again all of you:

Just one more thing. It's not about outing anymore - it's about lying.

Just like it wasn't about sex - it was about lying.

      ex,

      1. What am I spinning? That little summary was from a Newsweek article - "but was an effort to discourage Time from publishing things that turned out to be false"

      2. Who have I blamed for what? My opinion as far Rove goes is it's a witch hunt - but I'm still waiting for this to play out before I convict anyone.

      3. It just seems to me that since Rove has testified to the grand jury three times and had already released the reporters from their confidentiality pledges in writing - it seems he wasn't too bothered by what the reporters had. So what else are they protecting???? That's the question, ex.

      Steve
