Rush goes to Afghanistan kindj 02/23/05
As you may or may not know, Rush Limbaugh took a trip over to Afghanistan to visit the troops and such. Here's a bit from his report:

    >>Limbaugh said he was humbled by the experience of meeting the troops on the front lines. "I can talk about them on the radio program as you do and we salute them and so forth," he told Hedgecock. "But I just felt so small compared to these people standing before them."

Afghanistan, he said, was still a "hellhole" after years of Taliban rule and tribal fighting. "I've never seen a place like this. I guess bombed-out Dresden in World War II might look somewhat like it."

Still, said Limbaugh, the Afghan people seemed to realize that their future was brighter thanks to American intervention.

"I met a bunch of native Afghanistan people today who their big fear is that the U.S. will leave," he explained. "They're so excited about the changes in the elections that took place that they're really jazzed."

In a town hall meeting with the troops, the top talker said he got only had a couple policy questions about Afghanistan. "One of them was, 'Do you think that the US system should be what they should adopt or do you think we should allow them to adopt their own system?'"

Limbaugh replied that he wouldn't try to impose an American-style government on the country. "I trust freedom. I trust free people. Let free people make up their own minds about things and you can trust the results."<<

What do you think about that last paragraph? Do you think the same thing would be true in Iraq?

      Hello Elliot:

Loving a government that wants to put you away for many years ain't too logical in my book. But, of course, I've got all my faculties available.

      Excon,

      >>>There are 16 Moslem nations in the Middle East; not one of them is Democracy. <<<

Well, now there are 3. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Turkey. And the truth is that FUNDAMENTALIST Islamic law is not compatible with Democracy. But there are plenty of Muslims in the USA who do fine in a Democracy. Same in England, France and other European countries. Democracy is not incompatible with Islam. It is only incompatible with the uncompromising nature of FUNDAMENTALIST Islam.

      >>>Loving a government that wants to put you away for many years ain't too logical in my book. But, of course, I've got all my faculties available.<<<

Maybe the difference between you and Rush is that Rush wasn't guilty of anything, and trusted the system because he knew that the system would work. YOU were guilty of your crime, don't trust the system, and believe that it doesn't work. That is why he loves his government, and you don't.

      Hello again, El:

Surprise, surprise! I don't think the Limp one is guilty of anything either.

But we're not talking about what you, or I or Rush thinks, here. We're talking about what the government thinks. And the government he loves doesn't agree with him, or you, or me, and wants to throw him in the slam for a good long time.

Blind faith in government is one thing. But, to sing their praises at the very same time they are trying to throw your ass in jail, ain't too logical, still. Half his brain, and both of his eyes. Let's see if he sings the same tune after he gets released.

Oh, you think because he's innocent, he won't get thrown in the slam? And, who told you I was guilty of anything?

      Excon,

      >>>Oh, you think because he's innocent, he won't get thrown in the slam? <<<

I think HE believes that. He believes in the system. And chances are that he's right. He won't be thrown in jail for anything.

      >>>And, who told you I was guilty of anything?<<<

You did, in another conversation (or several conversation) several months back. You admitted being guilty (though we never discussed what you were guilty of, and I have no great need to know), and said that you had done your time. You even admitted at one point that you believed that your sentence was fair. At the time, you said that it wasn't the sentence you had an issue with, it was the abuses that take place in prison that you were against.

I may not be all that much to look at, but my memory for trivial details like that is very strong. Analysts like me LIVE for the details.

Yeah, well maybe they through me in the slam, but I'm innocent, I tell ya, I'm innocent.
