      Chou,

I think the blanks are cases where they never officially finished the count because the state had already officially been called for one of the candidates based on the results in the OTHER counties. So there are a few blanks out there in states that were overwhelmingly for one candidate or the other. Counties in OR, IL, WI, MN, ME, NY, VT, NJ (Kerry), UT, AZ, NM, CO, FL, AL (Bush), were never officially finished their counts because their populations were too small to change the outcome in those states.

      >>>In addition, we have to keep in mind that only people can vote, not prairie dogs or shrubs. <<<

True, but it is still pretty impressive.

Thanks again, Elliot. Very Interesting. The Democrats should stare at that map as they retool the party.

      Clarification/Follow-up by Choux on 11/04/04 2:27 pm:
That's the point, they have to be more like the Republicans on "values". Not all Democrats are far out!

Dems have to get back the people who used to vote for them; mainstream moderates who now vote Republican.

So, they have to put their thinking caps on and strategize. Planning and thinking are good things!

Meanwhile, the Dems will have the regular issues such as differences in foreign policy, healthcare, etc. whatever.
