Yes it was revealed that Truman made some horrible comments about Jews and yet Truman recognized Israel 11 minutes after it declared independence;something the great George Marshall his Sec.State advised against doing.Marshall threatened to resign over the issue and support Dewey . Ironically Nixon also made anti-semetic statements and yet Golda Meir said Nixon kept all his promises to Israel. Also in spite of the fact that the White House Tapes revealed his crude distasteful comments about Jews it did not stop him from appointing Kissinger or George Schultz to his Cabinet.

RESPONSE TO YOUR COMMENTS ON MY ANSWER:
Who is the present "hammer"? Kerry or Bush?
Are you referring to a person, Juda, or the tribe(s) of Judah? The tribes/nation of Judah prevailed against their enemies when they trusted God, failed when they went their own way.
The Maccabees only had a brief victory and in the end were defeated.
Political action can sustain protection for a while, but God is all powerful and forever.

Ummm...Dr. Gade
**Maccabess only had a brief victory and in the end were defeated**
They cleansed the Temple, removed the statues of Zeus and other Greek gods...not political aspirations.
Beginning in the small town of Modiin, not far from Jerusalem, a priest named Mattathias started the revolt. He called on others to join him: "Whoever is for G-d, come with me."
That was the power of G-d in the events that came to be known in the celebration of Hanukkah. The small band of Mattathias and his five sons began a guerilla offensive in the hills against the mighty Syrian-Greek army. Led by one of the sons, Judah ha-Maccabee, this small army liberated Jerusalem. THIS INDEED WAS A MIRACULOUS VICTORY!
Need I remind you the story of Hanukkah has been celebrated and existed before that of Christianity...by comparison certainly no less than the defeat of not having a tangible Jesus that did not bring in the messianic age 2k years ago.
