My Decision 2004 Chouxxx 08/22/04
Please help. I am a one issue voter in this election, and I have narrowed down my assessment of who would be the best President going forward, best proactive for carrying out what I consider the single most important issue.

Bush. I think his administration would be the most steadfast in the War on Terrorism despite the collapse of the CIA on his watch which I don't consider is fault, but a combination of stuff....despite all the hysterical supporters he caters to, like the Useful Idiots of the far right and religious right.

Kerry::: Have to have a leap of faith that he will continue the War on Terrorism even more stringently than Bush.

PS Every single President since 1980 has BETRAYED America and I'm sick over the office being used to pay off crony-s instead of providing leadership. SPECIFICALLY, I waited in gas lines in the late 1970"s when Saudi Arabia raised oil prices which was an attack of sorts on America. We pledged outselves to smaller engines, less gas consumptions and weening ourselves off Saudi and Middle East oil.

No worthwhile leadership from Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush 2. A COMPLETE TRAGEDY FOR AMERICA. AND NEEDLESS.

Still on the fence. What to do?

      Tomder-

You question that I would give the Kerry campaign slack for negative campaigning? No that's not the case. I've stated several times that neither candidiates service records hold sway for my vote or criteria in the 2004 president election.

Interesting enough as I mentioned yesterday, before the fact and now according to the news as of today, Pres. Bush has now pulled back negative attacking Sen Kerry...I havn't had time to read the article it's probably just the service related ads, but I don't know the rest of the specifics, as of yet. I can't imagine a mudslinging truce...I'll believe that when it actually happens.

re; Bush calling an end to the adds :
It appears that call came in the context of ending all 527 outside groups running ads.As you know Moveon.org a 527 independent group funded by the billionair George Soros has run defamatory adds against Bush for over a year now .

It is in his interest for these McCain-Feingold frankenstein organizations to end all activities. Both candidates have now been burnt by them. It is time for Congress to readdress the campaign finance issue. Obviously the reforms they enacted are not working.

Bush cannot ,as Kerry wishes, call for the outright end of the adds against Kerry ;and Kerry knows it too. If he did ,then the Kerry charge of coordination would be true ,and that is illegal .(Of course it doesn't stop Kerry's web site from boasting about it's link to a number of 527's .)But Bush also was clever in waiting until Kerry spent millions in adds asking Bush to denounce the adds before Bush made his statement yesterday .

The issue desired by each candidiate is that the other not be so passive on the negative ads, which they both fear it suggests to the public that they actually favor such ads, regardles if the ads came from outside party sources.

This answer was nice and short! Good one! lolol

Verbiage means lots of words....those are the ones I don't read because I know you are trying to suffocate me with spin and misdirection!!!!

      Gave a great day!

Choux, fair enough...but the truth shouldn't be suffocating.
