ok then ;I'll give you the opinion of the Washington Post ;not exactly a publication that would be called a right wing propoganda paper :
"....he will be judged in part on how he chose to present himself last night, and on that score, while he may have been politically effective, he fell short of demonstrating the kind of leadership the nation needs."

Ceebee ;please clarify . What do you think Kerry means when he says he will use 'force' "when he has to".

Chou,
If this was such a homerun, why did Kerry get a NEGATIVE BUMP in the polls?
Gallup just released its most recent poll info, which shows that BUSH, not Kerry got a boost of 4 points from Kerry's "homerun" speech.
Kerry cannot win with only his own base supporters. He doesn't have the numbers. If his speech was designed only to rally his own supporters, then it was LOUSY STRATEGY by his campaign. Nowhere else will Kerry ever get a forum to reach the entire USA than at the Democratic Convention. If he didn't use that opportunity to try to convince the undecided voters to vote for him, then his strategy is WAY off base. He'll never get another opportunity to get that many listeners again.
But personally, I don't think he's a bad stretegist. If you look at the speech itself, it is clear that he was TRYING to convince the undecided voter to vote for him. That was his target audience. In fact, with only a few minor exceptions, the entire convention was targetted at the unecided voters. The hard-core leftists were clearly told to shut up and tow the line, which is why the convention was studded with so many REPUBLICAN ideas. The Dems were trying to look like the MODERATE party, when in fact the real party is pretty far to the left. The speech itself stressed how STRONG Kerry would be against terrorism, how good a person he is for having served in Vietnam, how good a military leader he can be, how he would not hesitate to defend the USA, etc. All of these are REPUBLICAN points, and Kerry was trying to look more Republican for the undecided voter. That means that the undecided voter WAS his target audience.
Now... did his speech appeal to the undecided voter?
I don't think so.
Therefore, it was not a homerun.

Elliot::: Not nice to see you have MADE-UP poll results; that's beneath you.
He made the connection VIET NAM===IRAQ, bang zoom!!!!!
He showed he was a real man as opposed to Bush, I'm not going into his many chatacer faults starting with being a drunken bum for most of his adult life.
Etc...
Incidently, I just saw Bush in a pressconference reL homeland security. He was inarticulate and strange several times. We have to end his misery!

Made it up?
Try again Chou. Read the URL and weep.
http://www.gallup.com/content/?ci=12565
I did make a mistake, though.
At July 19-21, Gallup's numbers showed Kerry ahead of Bush 49% to 47%.
At July 30-31, it showed Kerry behind Bush 47% to 50%.
Kerry went down by 2%, Bush went up by 3%. Ergo, Kerry had a negative bounce of 5%...
...not 4% as I wrote above.
It's all there in black and white, Chou. I don't have to make stuff up.
>>>He made the connection VIET NAM===IRAQ, bang zoom!!!!!<<<
Yep, he sure did. He made the connection that just like he was against the troops in Vietnam and called them murderers and criminals, he blieves the same thing o our troops in Iraq.
Great way to win and election, Chou. I wonder why you don't run for office. I'm sure SOMEONE would vote for you with stategy like that...
>>>He showed he was a real man as opposed to Bush, <<<
He showed he was SOMETHING, all right. But I think that the average American is wondering whether a REAL man would first vote for a war, and then vote against FUNDING for that war. I think they are wondering if a real man comes home from a war and lies about his fellow soldiers in order to get elected. I think they are wondering what kind of man waits for his country to be attacked and his ciilians killed before he decides to take action to stop it from happening.
>>>Incidently, I just saw Bush in a pressconference reL homeland security. He was inarticulate and strange several times. We have to end his misery! <<<
Maybe. But it ain't gonna be Kerry that does it.

Thanks for elaborating your poll results.
BTW, The poll is of likely voters, isn't it? Lots of unlikely people are going to the polls in November to vote Bush out. It will be a landslide.
