Medal of Honor Recipients Support President Bush --- I received this today from a friend ETWolverine 07/20/04
[Open letter to veterans signed by twenty-one Medal of Honor recipients]

    Dear fellow veterans:

We have listened to Senator Kerry falsely attack President Bush for months over funding for veterans, and it's time to set the record straight (www.GeorgeWBush.com/Veterans/). The truth is President Bush has led the way on improving veterans' benefits, supporting our troops and restoring honor and dignity to the White House.

Since 2001, President Bush has increased veterans funding by over $20 billion, and funding for veterans' health care has increased by 40 percent since he took office. Funding for veterans has gone up twice as fast under President Bush as it did under President Clinton, and those who accuse the President of cutting funding are simply not being honest with veterans.

Meanwhile, John Kerry voted against a $1.3 billion increase in veterans health care, skipped votes on concurrent receipt and voted against funding for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. And while he talks a good game, Kerry's record shows he is out of the mainstream. The American Flag symbolizes our ideals, our history and our values. President Bush shares this belief and supports a Constitutional Amendment banning desecration of the Flag. John Kerry believes this is "an attack on free speech."

We are disturbed that John Kerry would try to scare veterans with his false accusations, and we are disappointed in his lack of support for today's troops. Please join us in setting the record straight (www.GeorgeWBush.com/Veterans/) and showing your support for President Bush -- a leader who has proven his support for those who have served, backs our troops defending our nation and shares our values.

    Sincerely,

      Elliot-

Never in my lifetime would I take anything away from those who personally suffered through the tragedy of 9/11, generally speaking all Americans did. It took a grieving toll on each one of us. I wept like million of others the day that happened. My brother just happen to be on military leave. He was on a commerial flight, in the air coming to visit me, when this occurred. We later got confirmation that his flight had been detoured and that he was safe. I have a client that lost his wife on one of the planes that his one of the Towers. My dad called and left a message of unbelievable anger and explicits aimed mainly at those of arab descent with Islamic extermist views...I was very upset that day and still hold hostility. I have to reason through this as well.

Look at some point, people need to realize Pres. Bush did what any living breathing leader with a pulse could do, retaliate with a show of force to the world. I certainly back him for the intiation of war on Afghanistan. I actually have no problem with the scattering of terrorists and turning over the Iraqi government anew...although my strategy would had been different and if I had my way I would bring home most of the troops tomorrow. I also think we have a fair number of enemies over in Pakistan, Iran and Saudi...perhaps they deserve a bomb or two?

For the sake of argument, ok let's give Pres. Bush the credit and say he was the best person at that moment, but still again any potatoe head in the White House would had no choice but to shoot up someones hillsides. My point is there so much more to being president, but in all fairness, I know people vote on issues important to the individual. Elliot, I know you have a well rounded education so I'm actually speaking of the many people for example that might vote one way or the other based on single issues. I know you consider Mr. Bush the right man for a multitude of reasons, I don't. But, I wouldn't vote for someone out of default either, that's why I have not endorsed Kerry.

      Bobby
