HOW'S THIS FOR APPRECIATION: HANK1 09/26/05

From a VOLUNTEER who worked at the Convention Center in New Orleans during the Katrina affair:

"I just witnessed selfish, arrogant, unappreciative behavior by the very people who need help the most. Now these same people who cursed me refused my cities generosity, who refuse to help themselves are DEMANDING handouts on their own terms!!!!!!! They prance around as if they are owed something, and when they do receive a handout, they say it's not good enough!"

The e-mail was forwarded to me by a friend. It was quite long. This is just an excerpt. I didn't post the real disgusting part.

    Any comments?

This is a testimonial! Not just a shot in the dark.

There are many people just like that everywhere I go I see it. It is unbelievable how people act like you owe them and then they don't appreciate it. I know hundreds of different examples. They blow their money most often on drugs and then demand others take care of feeding and watching their kids because they don't have any food stamps left after trading them 50/100 for drugs. Just the other day my neighbors son got a $40.00 tattoo and then cried to his mom that she must not care about him because he doesn't have $50.00 to pay on his fine.

I am sure it is abundant with the hurricane victims as well.

They have said most of the stories turned out to not be true, but I do know the 'victim owed' attitute is everywhere.
