Snitching excon 07/09/05

    Hello Christians:

Snitching - tattling - ratting - kissing and telling, buring your sources, etc.

What is the Christian/moral stand on the subject? Why? Do you keep secrets? Would you go to jail to keep a secret? Is it good or bad to do so? What do you teach your kids?

If it's good, why are all the terms describing one who does so, so reviling? If it's good, we should call it kissing or loving.

      Hello again, Christians:

Ok, I got it. Saving a life or property is not snitching. I really didn't think it was. But you people seem to waffell quite a bit.

But, my question was about snitching, per se. The real ugly kind. Do you tell the teacher when you saw somebody cheating on a test? Do you call the cops if you see a neighbor smoking dope. Do you rat out your accomplice to save yourself from....... Do you teach your children that informing on people is good or is it bad?

What is it? I'm clear on my position. Are you clear on yours?

You haven't been to specific in your question, so you can't expect specific answers... Now that you have, here ya go:

Do you tell the teacher when you saw somebody cheating on a test?

      Hell, NEVER.

Do you call the cops if you see a neighbor smoking dope.

No way, no how. But if I'd see a neighbor stealing from another neighbor or doing something even worse (harming somebody, etc. or selling that same dope to a kid for that matter), I'd be calling the cops, asking questions later.

Do you rat out your accomplice to save yourself from.......

This is a good one. People are garbage. Chances are that the accomplice would rat anyway. So in an ideal world, no. In the real world yes.

Do you teach your children that informing on people is good or is it bad?

I teach him to mind his own business, he knows that I have zero patience for tattling, but at the same time that yeah, call the cops if you see something real bad goin' down.

I don't know about "Christian stand" but ratting is wrong. What is even worse is that "source" who is happily going about their business while someone else is in jail "protecting" them. So really, who's a bigger idiot?

The "source" snitched to begin with. If ratting is wrong, then it is ALWAYS wrong. Therefore the one who started the process should be doing time.

Revealing a CIA agent's name is WRONG. It is outright treason. So why don't you ask THAT? Why are you worked up about a woman who is protecting a traitor and not about a traitor him/herself?

The rat ratted = jailtime. She is protecting a traitor and obstructing justice = jailtime. What is there to not understand?

Methinks that this whole "liberal" agenda of yours is so skewed that even you don't see what it is exactly. You ask about snitching in such a clearly condemning tone, which forces a conclusion that you are firmly against it. Cool. But then you must be consistent and condemn the first rat as well. I'd really, really like to see whether or not you can do that. If you can't... well, then the aforementioned agenda truly sucks as you can't have it both ways.

So which is it gonna be?
