Well, that stopped the clock, but, now for a serious question ... Erewhon 10/23/05
As a Christian or any kind of believer, "Do you believe that your first duty is to your God or to the President/ruler of your nation, and what do you do if you truly believe that your President/ruler is not doing God's will in something? Who do you choose - God or the President/ruler"

Please - no lists of names!

The witch hunt is temporarily on hold.

      Clarification/Follow-up by curious98 on 10/26/05 11:18 am:
Not many ATON, not many... I wouldn't, to start with.

But that does not mean, GOD does not comes first.

We, men do many things we should not, that not only jeopardise our families, but place them in extremely dangerous situations. Like WARS, for instance. And ever since men exist they have never doubted to risk their lives and that of their families in nonsense wars, normally started by people who, in most cases, took good care in personally avoiding the risks involved...

I therefore think than jeopoardising one's family for the cause of God is more rewarding than doing it for some human stupidity.

Any true believer of any kind will tell you that, unquestionably, GOD is over and above everything else, including the family.

In India, when reaching a certain age, with his sons able to take care of themselves and of their mother, many men, who are truly spiritual, retire to some secluded place to pray, and abandon everything, just as Siddhartha Gautama did, and so many before like Lao Tse or after, like Jesus, who abandoned everything to die for us.

It takes, of course, to be a true and convinced believer. Those who consider our life, as a “reality” and our religion as a “fancy fairy tale” that makes us feel comfortable will not agree with this principle.

In fact, I do not agree either. But not because I’m not convinced that it is true. But because I don’t have the guts to abide by it.
I’m still too attached to the good things of life…

But, in 1936, at the beginning of our civil war, 7 priests from a small town in Catalonia (La Seu d’Urgell) were executed by the communists just because they did not want to accept the conditions they were offered to save their lives. These were very simple. To publicly repudiate GOD…

They had very clear that GOD comes first, and that He is a bigger reality than any President, no matter how important he may think he is…

One of these days Pope Benedict XVI will canonize them!

PS. Incidentally, suicide terrorists also share that same principle. They are, of course, wrong. But consider themselves as martyrs of their faith.
