COUNTING $$$: |

I've asked several young check-out clerks at a local Super Market to manually count my change back to me after adding up my purchases. None could. Back to the computer they went.
Why can't some of our young people count change?

Fifteen years ago when the 7th grade teacher sent me a new student to tutor in basic arithmetic, had told the student to be sure to take along her calculator, I knew the Last Days were at hand.
Tina was NOT happy about practicing making change, even when I laid a bunch of bills and coins on the table. I asked her, "If you don't learn this, how will you be able to give change if you are working at McDonald's?" She answered, "The cash register will tell me how much." Then I asked, "What if the electricity goes off and the cash register can't tell you?" and she answered, "The manager will send us home." |
