Snitching |

Hello Christians:
Snitching - tattling - ratting - kissing and telling, buring your sources, etc.
What is the Christian/moral stand on the subject? Why? Do you keep secrets? Would you go to jail to keep a secret? Is it good or bad to do so? What do you teach your kids?
If it's good, why are all the terms describing one who does so, so reviling? If it's good, we should call it kissing or loving.

Clarification/Follow-up by excon on 07/10/05 8:15 am:
Hello again, Christians:
Ok, I got it. Saving a life or property is not snitching. I really didn't think it was. But you people seem to waffell quite a bit.
But, my question was about snitching, per se. The real ugly kind. Do you tell the teacher when you saw somebody cheating on a test? Do you call the cops if you see a neighbor smoking dope. Do you rat out your accomplice to save yourself from....... Do you teach your children that informing on people is good or is it bad?
What is it? I'm clear on my position. Are you clear on yours?

Ex: There is NO consistancy in 'Christian' attitudes toward 'snitching'...tattling, ratting...or 'gossip' and 'lies' for that matter.
The Inquisition tortured 'heretics' to get them to rat out Jews and other sinful pagans. Eusebius, the first Church historian stated it was o.k. to lie in order to further the faith. The fundamentalist Christain regime of Emperor George Dubya Bush certainly sees nothing wrong in the lies he told the American people about Iraq.
On the other hand, many committed Christians, including Lutherans, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholic priests and nuns went to concentration camps for NOT ratting out the Jews they were hiding from the Nazi.
The unstated reference in YOUR question is obviously the CIA affair...It is almost certain, at this point, that Carl Rove was the 'deep throat' who vindictivly leaked the name of the CIA agent. This slime bucket needs jail time in a big way. He deliberatly put the life of an American agent in jeopardy just to satisfy the vengeful ego of his 'boss'. Whether or not he was directed to do this by BUSH remains to be seen.
Should the reporter do jail time for 'keeping' her secret...YES! because she is an accomplice in endangering the life of another person. She is neither a PRIEST or a PSYCHIATRIST, who is bound by ethical 'silence'...She is just another working stiff, willing to promise anything to get a story.
