Lobbyists, money and corruption excon 11/30/05

    Hello experts:

You do know that the congress has been sold to the highest bidder. Lobbyists even write legislation. Lobbyists suck. I hope they ban 'em - ALL OF 'EM.

    You?

I can't disagree with that. I would say, however, that lobbies do serve an important purpose in modern politics, that is to get the voices of a particular group heard by as high a level of government as possible. Has it gotten out of hand? Yes.

On the other hand, how long would Israel have survived in 73 if not for AIPAC's ability to get Nixon's ear.

So yes, I agree with you that lobbies are a pain in the ass. But I think they may be a necessary pain in the ass.
