President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad challenged President Bush.. |

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad challenged President Bush to a televised debate on world issues today. Of course I would like to see such a debate but another thing he said was that the veto right in the UN Security Council was a problem in that, it is an insult to the dignity, independence, freedom and sovereignty of the nations that do not enjoy that right. Do you suppose that that is part of why the UN fails so often? |

Let's clarify this a little shall we? A certifiable nutcase, Ahmalongadingdong or whatever his name is, said "The U.S. and Britain are the source of many tensions. At the Security Council, where they have to protect security, they enjoy the veto right. If anybody confronts them, there is no place to take complaints to."
Right. The US and the UK are the problem - as you well know of course - big, bad bullies who don't want innocent little Mullahs to have a little peaceful nuclear power. We all know Ahmalamaramabingbang can't get any sympathy from the other 3 veto-wielding super studs, Russia, China and France.
Whaaaaaa!
Of course it's really as simple as this, if Iran wants peaceful nuclear energy it either has to allow inspections and monitoring or withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty of which they are a party...just do what you agreed to do. See, simple isn't it?
Personally I don't think the 5 permanent members and their veto power is near as an "insult to the dignity, independence, freedom and sovereignty of the nations" as the UN is itself. It's a corrupt, impotent and ineffective anti-Semitic blight.
As for the debate, I'm sure you'd enjoy it. I can see groups like People for the American Way and MoveOn, and moonbats like Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan and Alec Baldwin cheering on the little madman and wannabe prophet. He may even give Bush another invitation to Islam...
