Inauguration costs kindj 01/13/05
I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about the cost of the Bush inauguration. Something like 40 mil. OK, sure, that seems a bit extravagent to me, especially with all that's going on. If it were me, I'd just as soon take the oath, smile for the camera, make a short speech, and get back to the job I was being paid for.

But that's just me, and I'm no politician.

However, SURELY this is not the first inauguration that has come with a hefty price tag. Anyone have any figures for other Presidential inaugurations?

    DK

I wondered aloud if the oath was even necessary for a re-elected president. A response from someone that wondered aloud about the same idea said "maybe the oath expires" and has to be redone. So, change the oath to add that "I will uphold the ....as long as I hold the office of President of the US."

Why is an inauguration even necessary for a re-elected president? He has already taken the oath of office.
