Inauguration costs kindj 01/13/05
I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about the cost of the Bush inauguration. Something like 40 mil. OK, sure, that seems a bit extravagent to me, especially with all that's going on. If it were me, I'd just as soon take the oath, smile for the camera, make a short speech, and get back to the job I was being paid for.

But that's just me, and I'm no politician.

However, SURELY this is not the first inauguration that has come with a hefty price tag. Anyone have any figures for other Presidential inaugurations?

    DK

I agree with you. While I can't see spending that kinda money for one day we have to have an it isn't my money attitute (I heard it is private funds not tax payers). I remember the Kerry campaign cost tons (even though scary Terry paid for it). It seems like a waste for a one day event.

Like a talk show host pointed out the money made at the event by the caters, etc... gets spent back into the economy anyway and that is the American way.
