Polls, Schmolls Chouxxx 07/27/04
The Republicans should be very afraid; they have a lot of work to do before the November election. The only statistic that matters is this:

Clinton left office with a 60% + approval rating by the Americam public. George W. Bush is currently running under a 50% approval rating. There are lots of people who are disatisfied with Bush. It looks like he will be overcome by the desire of the American people to change our leadership.

He doesn't have to take a stand; it's Bush's war, and Bush's election to lose(or win)over this one issue.

This election is in "God's" hands because it will be determined by what happens in the international sphere between today and November 11th that would sway voters. It is Bush's election to lose. The reputable polls say the voters are split down the middle and have been.

Choux,

The only statistic that matters is the number of electoral votes each candidate has after the election. The latest ABC/Washington post poll says:

If the 2004 presidential election were being held today, would you vote for (George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, the Republicans), (John Kerry and John Edwards, the Democrats), or Ralph Nader and Peter Camejo, the Independents? Which candidates are you leaning toward?

Net Leaned Vote, Registered Voters:

Bush 48
Kerry 46
Nader 3

(ASKED OF NADER VOTERS AND DON'T KNOWS) If Nader does not run or is not on the ballot, for whom would you vote - (Bush) or (Kerry)? Which one are you leaning toward?

Net Leaned Vote, Registered Voters:

Bush 49
Kerry 48
Nader 0

(ASKED OF UNLEANED BUSH/KERRY SUPPORTERS) Do you support Bush/Kerry strongly or not strongly?

Bush-Strongly 88
Not strongly 11
No Opinion 1

Kerry-Strongly 72
Not strongly 26
No opionion 2

(ASKED OF LEANED BUSH SUPPORTERS) Is your vote more for Bush or more against Kerry?

For Bush 81
Against Kerry 17
No opinion 2

(ASKED OF LEANED KERRY SUPPORTERS) Is your vote more for Kerry or more against Bush?

For Kerry 41
Against Bush 56
No opinion 3

So let's see, 81% of Bush supporters are voting for Bush, while on 41% of Kerry supporters are voting for Kerry...that should scare the Dems. It sure doesn't say much for confidence in their candidate.

Steve
