How were President Clinton's ethical/moral failings worse than those of any other president/politician?
Mr. Clinton was the first president in my adult life, so I haven't much memory or Regan/Carter/Ford/Nixon, but I never understood why the man seemed to have so much venom directed at him.
What was it about his ethical/moral failings in comparision to those of other presidents that cause people to hate him so?
Yes, he was a womanizer, and he lied about it, but in my mind he did a lot of good for the country.
If one examines the current president, one sees the same flaws: someone who dodged service in Vietnam; used drugs and avoids discussing it; tells lies; etc. The only thing he hasn't been caught doing to date is fooling around with women.
Why all the ire for Clinton and not Bush, for example? I am interested in reasoned, objective responses. |

Hello: This is my opinion. When Bill Clinton started his campaigning, to me he took on a personality like the beloved and so tradgetly murdered President John Kennedy. Call it what you will, but it was like getting a youthfully minded person, that appeared to be well groomed in not only appearance but also in knowledge of what this world needed as a leader, he seemed to have our very best interest in knowing we what we all wanted. Visually seeing also a man that could reach out to the youngest voters, all nationalities, all religions, and ages, he made the majority feel like, yes, there was a new combination of leaders in place that actually cared. There is no doubt that he and his team did alot to pull us ahead, and make us feel good about who we were and what we stood for. Then when he took his position that many trusted him with, and going outside his marriage with a younger possibly vunerable person, and then also finding out this, and what appeared to be, such a committed, well maintained family man, not only misused this woman but had another along the way, seemed like he gave the majority of us that backed him and was not for him the reason to feel deceived. Because even tho he was just one man, he took on as being a representative to our Country, to our children, to all of us, that this man would put himself in position to show just how the male gender should be. When we vote we give our honest opinion of whom we feel should have literly the world at their feet, we give to this person the go ahead to use our beloved military service's, our people that are willing to give their lives to keep us safe, not for someone that won't think twice about degrading our citizens that he can use the very place that is only a building which is man made, but a place called the Whitehouse, that all decisions are made on how we as the public will continue to live and to me those grounds are sacret, they are to be respected, and the person in charge of this yet growing America knows what they do will always reflect on what the majority of us feel is correct thing to do. I don't feel many of us feel, having sex in a room that he was to use that directed a many life, or right in the same home your child and wife occupied or while the person in charge of our Country should think so little of our feelings, trust and love than to think only of himself and what he im=morally wants. We live in a fast pace, but suppose to be more educated society, we try so hard to teach young married couples, families, individuals and all groups, that it's wrong to deceive, it's wrong to have another while committed in marriage, not to have unprotected sex, and not to host lies, that is not what this Country was built on. Yes, other Presidents supposidly had outside marriage encounters, but again, this is today, and today we have more growth not only in body, but in mentality and he for one chose not to use his mind. I for one, felt sicken and very discouraged and having been around the "bad" men, it's ashame to feel what the Domestic Abuser's character of behavior list says, because Mr. Clinton's name could be added very easily. So, as he thought so little of us then, is how I feel about him today. bal317 |
